4 upcoming Brisbane school fetes

parents-kid-fetesAs the weather edges back towards Spring in Brisbane, more and more school’s are throwing fetes, fairs, carnivals – whatever name you prefer.

These events are rarely just for those who have kids attending the school, but are rather a great way for the public to spend a day. In this blog, we’ve listed four Brisbane fetes that are coming up soon, with one happening this weekend. Be sure to check them out if you’ve got the time.

1. St Paul’s Back to the Future School Fair

On Saturday, 22 August, St Paul’s School will be holding a Back to the Future themed school fair. Comprising both a daytime and nighttime program, both times of day will offer different attractions. During the day (11am to 5pm) there will rides, stalls, entertainment across two stages, a bar, food and drink, art show, photo booth and, yes, a DeLorean Car. At night (5pm to 9pm), there will be movies and popcorn for the kids, jazz performances for the grown-ups, as well as food trucks and a bar. To find out more, click here.

2. Jindalee State School Fete

The Jindalee State School Fete is back this year on Saturday, 29 August. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s actually one of the largest school fetes in the Western suburbs, often attracting over 2,500 visitors each year. This time around, it’s going with a ‘Heroes and Villains’ theme, and all are welcome. It will be running from 11am to 7.30pm, and comes with plenty of rides, school-run stalls, community stalls, and more. You can find out more here.

3. Aspley State School – 125th Birthday BLAST

If there was ever a reason to celebrate, turning 125 would be a good contender. On Friday, 11 September, Aspley State School will celebrate this milestone from 3.30pm until 8.45pm. There will be the usual attractions of food stalls, as well as live entertainment, and fireworks. Some other interesting events will be tours of the current classrooms, and then a reconstruction of the school’s old classroom setup – a simple nod to the past. You can find out more via the Birthday’s Facebook Event page.

4. St Mark’s Multicultural Fiesta

On Sunday, 13 September, StohhiMark’s will be holding its multicultural fiesta, with a host of activities, international food and home-made goods. There will also be a parade of traditional costumes from different countries, stalls, raffles, carnival rides, and more. It will run from 10am until 3pm, and you can learn more about the fiesta here.
