What not to forget when throwing a party

party-essentialsAt Brisk Fridge, we love a good party, which is just one of the reasons why we provide a range of mobile cold rooms for hire.

When it comes to throwing a party, though, there are certain steps you can take to increase the likelihood of success and, conversely, reduce the likelihood of it being an absolute disaster. In today’s blog, we’ve listed some important things you should not forget when throwing your next party, including some party hire essentials.

Have food – plenty of it

This may sound like an obvious one, but this is often a mistake many will make when organising a party. The thing with food at a party is that it’s always better to overestimate. Because if you’ve got too much, you can always put it away and have it as leftovers. But if you’ve underestimated the amount of food needed, then you may find yourself in a situation where people become a little annoyed by the lack of actual food – especially if the party isn’t just for friends.

Venue

We’d say that it’s a good idea to simultaneously figure out your food/catering at the same time you’re picking out your venue. Your venue depends on your party. Is it for friends? Is it a work party? Or have you been compelled to throw a large party just for the heck of it? If your number of attendees is going to be substantial, then you may want to avoid having it at your house. Although, if your house happens to be on acres of land, you may get away with having a big party there. Otherwise, look around for venues, whether it an expansive private park-like area or a hall.

Figure out entertainment

The nature of your party will play a role in what type of entertainment you should consider. If you’re just having a few friends over, then entertainment can be as simple as background music while you catch away. Of course you can consider games if that’s your speed as well, be it casual sports or board games.

If the party’s on a bigger scale, for example a work or networking event, then you may want to consider some live music. You don’t need to go overboard; just make sure you have an acceptable form of entertainment for the party or event you’re throwing.

Drinks – to BYO or not to BYO

It’s a party. You know drinks will be a thing. But it’s up to you to decide – should people bring their own alcohol or will you supply? Regardless of which way you go, it’s always a good idea to at least have some drinks supplied, particularly soft drink for those who are either the designated driver or who aren’t interested in going the liquid courage route.

Keeping things chilled

Regardless of what type of drinks you’ve got at your party, keeping them chilled is important. But it may not just be about drinks. What if your party is for people of all ages? What about ice cream and other foods that can seriously benefit from being kept at cool temperatures? Whether you use an esky, a fridge/freezer of hire out a mobile cold room, make sure you have a way to keep everything cool throughout the course of your party.

Toilets

If you’re having your party somewhere where a bathroom isn’t a given, you’ll have to ensure you have alternative solutions in place. This means you may need to hire out a couple of portable toilets for your guests. Let’s face it, if there’s going to be drinking at your party, then toilets are kind of an absolute necessity.
